With normal usage for an average family and good maintenance, a microwave often lasts for 7 to 8 years. If the microwave is used less frequently by a single person or a couple and is well-maintained, the lifespan can increase to up to 10 years.

Probably the most common issue of any microwave is when the plate doesn't turn. The turning plate helps cook and reheat your food evenly, so it's a major headache when it's not working. Usually, the problem could be from something obstructing the spinning assembly.

Over-the-Range Microwave Dimensions

Capacity is usually around 1.7 to 2.0 cubic feet. Widths will all be roughly 30 inches to match the standard width of the range below and the standard cabinet cutout width where the microwave will be installed. You may find some compact models measuring around 24 inches wide as well.

Frigidaire has an excellent reputation for reliability by Consumer Reports, which ultimately was what sold me on this model. My old Kitchen Aid gave me about 20 years of service, I expect this Frigidaire might outlast that.

Frigidaire Microwave Power Goes Out Before Time Runs Out

You can't eat a lukewarm breakfast burrito, so what do you do? Reset the microwave – To reset a Frigidaire microwave, unplug the unit and wait 10 seconds before plugging it back in.

In the event of a power failure, your unit will display Power Failure or PF. Simply acknowledge the alarm (once power is restored) by pressing “Alarm Reset”. The refrigerator will then resume normal operations.

To clear the error code from your microwave: Unplug the unit from the wall outlet or trip the circuit breaker to cut power supply to the machine. Allow the machine to remain unplugged for 10-15 seconds. Restore power to the unit.
