Honkai Impact is actually the game that gives the most lore explanation of how all the universes are actually connected. That connection extends to almost every game Hoyoverse has made so far, although there is arguments that Houkai Gakuen or GGZ isn’t connected.
Edit: Sorry, not universes, Worlds. It’s technically all one universe, but it’s massive.

Welt Yang nerfed himself in HSR. He's only using a relic that makes black holes, said relic that was created off of a Herrscher that sunk an entire continent.
The things he can do when he had his Herrscher powers will make you think he is absolutely broken.

Personally, I hated Otto for everything he’s done. But after watching everything, I have to say that I understand why he did what he did. And what’s worse is that I can’t say that I WOULDN’T do the same for the one I loved, if given the chance or means.

I hate Graduation Trip because it has a 100% “Turn me into a sobbing ball of tears” rate. Kiana did it. She kept her promise to Himeko. She became the best Valkyrie ever.
I haven’t been with Honkai Impact since the start. But I’ve watched Kiana, Mei, and Bronya’s journey. This may be weird to say, but seeing how far they’ve come and grown makes me proud of them.
They’ve inspired me, like the other characters have inspired them. The world isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. But it’s not ugly. We can fight for the beauty of this world. May Kiana, the beauty of this world, always shine.

Shockingly, Honkai impact had a huge impact (hehe get it? cuz impact. . .) on my deception of Genshin and HSR and I'm also shocked how so little people know about the amount of info given in Honkai Impact.
I always get triggered when people try to theorize about the connection between all these games whilst it is literally being explained in chapter 8 - 10.
My journey started with Genshin impact on week 1 then Honkai: Star Rail when it came out, but when I started Honkai Impact my mind was blown because of how underrated this game is.
I won't spoil anything but the gameplay alone is so fun, especially if you first test all the characters (yes that's possible) and to be honest, it is the best game Hoyoverse has made so far.
I think my opinion is obvious, play Honkai Impact; but not now because I know you are a very busy man.
Just keep it in the back of your head when you're bored or have no content left to do. I also don't think it could give many views at all so do it at your own interest when you care much about how many views/money you get.

Now that you've already dived into honkai 3rd, I'd suggest reacting to honkai 3rd version trailers :D

Fan fact: the K. K. that introduced the traveler in Genshin was theorized to be Kiana Kaslana or Kevin Kaslana, and the Tsaritsa's file name used to be Bronya too

If you're talking about the timeline HSR would be about 10+ years in the future from the current timeline in HI3. Part 1 finale end in around late 2017 and part 2 takes place on 2023, Welt goes to HSR around 2 to 3+ years after that so in earth timeline scales HSR story probably begin around 2030+ earth calendar.

Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact and Honkai Star Rail are in the same multiverse, however, Honkai Star Rail can be considered a continuation of Honkai Impact, but to understand deeper immersion, I advise you to read a brief tour of Honkai Impact, the video is on TH-cam to understand the concept of the Honkai World. The Geshnin impact is also connected, although this is not shown to us much, since the world of the genshin is in fact hidden from outside eyes. In geshin there are alternative versions with Honkai Impact - Raiden Mei is Raiden Shogun, Yae Sakura is Yae Miko. In Fontaine's latest plot, a character appeared who is as similar as possible to Honkai's character, so that all these universes are connected and are on a single tree in the sea of quanta.

Something i still love about the "Graduation Trip Animation" is how the classical music part is the same Canon in D Minor that Kafka plays in the beginning of Star Rail all the while using a train as the overarching theme.
The end of HI3s part 1 (and therefore this short) and the release of Star Rail were also almost at the same time.
As if they are passing the torch from Impact to Star Rail.

I loved your reactions. As a player of all three games, I'm going to leave here a very simplified explanation about character crossovers for whomever is interested.
1) The first protagonist, Kiana, is from the Kaslana family, which is central to HI3. Several members of her family and respective clones appear in the game, most notably Kiana herself, her 50k years old ancestor Kevin, her 500 years old ancestor Kallen, and her half-clone turned aunt, Theresa. Kiana is also associated to Sirin, a personality based on an entirely different person that became enmeshed with her and took over when she first became the Herrscher of the Void. GI's Sustainer of Heavenly Principles looks and behaves like Sirin in Kiana's body. The trailbazer's baseball bat is a nod to the Kaslana family. Beyond these two instances, Kaslanas have not appeared in GI or HSR, but they might be saving them for later due to their importance in HI3.
2) The second protagonist, Raiden Mei, appears as Raiden Ei in GI. In fact, if you merged Ei and her twin, you'd probably get Mei's personality. An expy of Raiden is confirmed to appear in HSR.
3) The third main protagonist, Bronya, has different versions even inside HI3, as other universes sometimes appear there. HSR's Silver Wolf is probably exactly the same character as a lesser known version of Bronya that appears in HI3 occasionally. Bronya ruler of Belobog is what HI3 Bronya would have been if she hadn't had a horrible childhood as a child soldier and assassin. Bronya is rumored to appear in GI as the Tsaritsa.
4) Seele often causes some confusion because she's nothing like HSR's Seele. HI3's Seele, like Bronya, also had a f*cked up childhood. She suffers from what could be called, in a way, a split personality, in which her main is very meek (unless Bronya is in danger) and her alter is bloodthirsty. HSR's Seele is, despite everything, a normal person. There's no Seele in GI so far, though Furina reminds me a bit of her in some aspects.
5) Fu Hua is something like 50k years old, with several memory wipes in the middle to keep her sanity, and due to that her story is quite complex and she's had many different looks. She's known for being Sushang's master (and might still appear in HSR as such) and for being betrayed by Yanqing (a meaner and much older version of HSR's Yanqing) and Otto (of whom Luocha is an expy). In GI, the upcoming human form of Cloud Retainer looks a lot like one of Fu Hua's versions.
6) Himeko's version in HSR is what HI3 Himeko would have been if she had fulfilled all her dreams. Unfortunately, she lived in a world at war and those dream died one by one. It's a nice nod to fans to know that she's living her best life somewhere, and still protecting her young charges while at it. In GI, she might be the (previous?) pyro archon; in the early webcomic, red headed refugees from Natlan were called Muratans by Venti (Murata is HI3 Himeko's surname).
7) Otto is one of the best villains ever written and Luocha is his expy in HSR. There's also a Luocha look alike wandering around in HSR whose name is Void Archives, who is kind of an AI inhabiting an Otto clone who crossed over from the HI3 universe. Void Archives copied a lot of Otto's sunny (read: psychopatic) personality, so Welt is understandably wary of him, and also of Luocha while at that.
8 ) Welt is the same Welt in HI3 and HSR. He crossed over with Void Archives after a series of complex shenanigans, but primarily to protect HSR Himeko, whose other version he felt he had failed badly. It's important to understand that Welt is not human at all - he's the result of a collective consciousness that reformed into the Herrscher of Reason (a mantle he later passed on to HI3 Bronya) and a few other legacies. He can reform his body and is seemingly immortal, though right now he doesn't have most of his powers. He left some precious people in the HI3 universe, but since they're also apparently immortal, they can wait. This is like a side quest for him.
9) Durandal has not appeared yet, but if I had to point the characters most like her, I'd say HSR Gepard is a male version of her, and in GI Jean reminds me quite a lot of her.
There are many other interesting characters with parallels (Yae, Fischl, Elysia as a potential Alice, Alhaitham and Su, etc.) and HI3 has a lot of lore, so I really encourage reading about it.

Fun fact about Himeko in the Hoyoverse, it's highly likely given what we know that the Pyro Archon in Natlan is another version of Himeko! Her name is Murata, which is HI3 Himeko's last name. Her descendants have bright red hair, and Vanessa of Mondstadt lore fame was one of them. It's probably why Diluc has such a resemblance to her.

take a look in the curio room on Herta's ship. you'll see how connected these universes actually are. there is Himeko's broken blade from final lesson, and special text if you look at it with Himeko. there is also a glider from genshin - all right there in the very beginning of the game. the astral express is thought to be a copy of the divine key Cosmic Juggernaut. Welt is the same Welt in both games, protecting Himeko. you can tell from his reaction to Luocha that he recognizes him from the Honkai universe. some even speculate the March 7th could be Elysia. No question all these games are connected, and i am excited to find out how it all comes together
also, don't forget about the genshin x honkai 3rd crossover event that brought Fiscl and Keqing to each others worlds.

So, Welt Yang, remember him? He's Bronya's predecessor and the previous user of that gem she used in her short. Due to various circ*mstances he's indirectly responsible for Himeko dying in Final Lesson. While some really weird stuff happened including alien invasion, he found out that there are multidimensional alien aiming to basically murder Star Rail's Himeko, so he goes to Star Rail's dimension to make sure that Star Rail Himeko don't die since he feels responsible for the events of Final Lesson

"Roles reversed" Well, if you remember that Silver Wolf is also Bronya and Red one in the trailer is also Seele it's not that much reversed. Rail Seele is more Red than Blue one.

Who Herrscher of the Void should remind you of isn't Phantylia... it's Unknown Goddess from Genshin. She even shares a voice actress with Kiana/HoV in both the Japanese dub and Mandarin original.
Yes that's Himeko. No it isn't Star Rail Himeko. Just like Ei from Genshin isn't Mei from HI3, and Mei from HI3 isn't Mei from Honkai Gakuen 2, even though they are basically the same character design and similar abilities and the same voice actresses. A running theme with miHoYo has been that the same characters exist in different versions across their multiverse of IPs. Note that this Himeko's last name is Murata.... yes, the name of the Pyro Archon in Genshin. We'll see exactly what the means in the next region.
A big part of Kiana's story is her struggle to control the Herrscher inside of her and make the power her own after Himeko breaks her out of her possession. That scene where she flies the bomb away and her eyes are blue while in HoV's form was /HUGE/. It showed the first time she took full control of HoV's power without losing herself.
If you love this stuff, please go read the Second Eruption manga. It's on the HI3 site for free. It's a masterpiece and tells the story leading up to the game. It's a real 10/10. Please read it. Read the Genshin manga while you're at it.
On the topic of crossover: The only literal crossover with HI3 and SR is Welt (he comes from HI3) and uh... "Void Archives" which is very hard to explain but is like a copy of Otto. Otherwise they are not connected besides the shared concepts and different versions of characters. Similarities to Genshin however, in terms of design and general concept... Ei looks just like Mei, Nahida is Genshin's Theresa (short, older than she looks, related to knowledge, same voice actors), Venty is Genshin's Wendy (his archon form in the manga looks just like she does in HG2 and they are both wind related) and Zhongli's design is a blend of Welt Yang and Welt Joyce. Oh and Yae Miku looks like Yae Sakura except her ears are pinned back instead of straight up.

If you do play the game don't rush it. Don't burn yourself out. It's a BIG story told in a convoluted manner with time skips and flashbacks. Each chapter has associated manga. Read those too. Lots backstory that flesh out the in game story and SOMEtimes help it make sense. If you can make it to chapter 9 you will be rewarded!

Alright, now that I’m actually watching the video there’s a shocking amount of people in chat that just don’t know what they’re talking about that think they do. During the Final Lesson reaction everyone is saying that it’s a multiverse, this Himeko is from a different universe, etc. And this is just completely incorrect, PB’s thoughts on if the games are connected is excusable because he genuinely does not know better, but so many people in chat were calling it a multiverse when it’s not. To put it simply, it’s a single universe just like ours, Honkai Himeko was born on Earth, Star Rail Himeko was born on Deep Blue, both planets that exist in the same universe, separated by galaxies, stars, and planets (and maybe an imaginary barrier, but that’s a bit more complicated). This is the basic cosmology, it’s not a multiverse unless you consider our universe to be a multiverse as well.

There is a yt video about the universe of miHoyo, where they explain since Gun Girls Z advancinng to Honkai Impact 3rd, hints about other universes, in a panel we see Dvalin, as for HI3rd Carole she goes on a train that goes through the universe or multiverse (if you wanna see it that way) and there is Welt, a train that looks and could be the same as in Starrail, there are also diferent "universes" that share story in HI3rd like APHO 1 & 2, Magical girls, and GGZ where some characters didn't die and had a happy ending and never had to become evil for the sake of their loved lost ones (Otto)

If you want to play HI3rd, keep in mind: 1) it is an old game, so first chapters are kinda outdated, 2) the story starts slow and picks up later, 3) use a controller as there is no mouse support like in Genshin and HSR, 4) Steam version is buggy, use the official client, 5) the story is way bigger and more complex than in GI and HSR, be prepared for lots of reading and an avalanche of information with science terms, mostly from theoretical physics field, 6) HI3rd is an arena brawler, not open world, so it's great even for short sessions. There is a mode called "open world", but it's more like a bunch of arenas connected with corridors, like HSR but more restricted.
HSR bubble universe versions of HI3rd characters: Bronya (Silverwing), Silver Wolf (Haxxor Bunny/Bronie), Seele (Seele Volerei + Veliona), Natasha (Natasha Cioara/Raven), Cocolia (Cocolia), Himeko (Murata Himeko), Li Sushang (Li Sushang), Kafka (Kafka - only talked about in stories + stigmata set).
HI3rd characters that are in HSR: Welt Young (Welt Yang/Welt Young/Joachim Nokianvirtanen), Luocha (Void Archives Otto Apocalypse).
Also, characters shown in "Reburn II" concept animation, which is the link between HI3rd and HSR: March 7th (unknown), Carole (Carole Peppers).

I would recommend watching Intro to the Honkaiverse. It's mostly background material.

The short you mentioned as seeming like a completely different game, Because Of You, is definitely one of the harder ones to follow without actually playing the story chapters it's the "capstone" of. I won't go into any details since it did sound like you were interested in playing the game but that short will definitely make more sense as you play through the main story.(And luckily you can play the MSQ of Honkai completely F2P because there's not a lot of power gating, especially since you start getting "rental" characters to play as that make sense for where you're at in the story.)

I think you should read the character stories of Honkai Impact 3rd first and then watch the chapter animations in the game.

If you're interested in the lore I'd highly recommend the videos on the channel! there's lore explanation videos on the channel itself. Of course would love to see you play the game, but I have to admit it is one heck of a time investment. You won't regret it, that's for sure, but it is could to be aware it will take a lot of time

Yes star rail and genshin are bubble universes in the honkai universe on the imaginary tree where bubble universes are born.
Characters with similar/same name/design from honkai impact are usually referred to as expys and exist in multiple different bubble universes. They are canon as well, Welt mentioned this in star rail in Luochas quest.

Pretty much multiverse theory. Same person different universe. Himeko in one universe is different than another. One being dead in universe A and another being alive in universe B. Genshin hasn't come up with Himeko yet, but some theories say she might appear in Natlan as the Archon of Pyro.

tbh ive been playing honkai impact 3rd for such a long time yet.i even barely know like half of the sotry, the lore is amazing but complicated :")

My running theory with Genshin is that Teyvat is a acolony turned into a bubble world sent out to the Sea of Quanta by humanity as part of their survival plan…theres even “barriers” to cover the skies of Teyvat like a firmament…heck the word Teyvat is basically hebrew for “Ark” 😉
If Teyvat is a parallel world in Honkai multiverse, any number of possibilities could happen in Genshin universe like theres no more humans anymore or there could be other bubble worlds connecting to Teyvat (Khaen’riah)
But then i prefer the Honkai series for its darker tone when it gets super serious…and yes, playable characters fight eachother and can possibly die…
Star Rail felt like Hoyo struck a balance between the happy go lucky slice of life and the serious and darker storylines…

Oh boy so how do i begin this..... Okay first off there's a collaboration already between HI3 and Genshin, don't know if there will be one with HSR (though there are some claims of Mei and another hi3 character coming to HSR), second then what you watched are mostly/all cutscenes from the game after each major arc and i think you missed some of the latest ones.
Third is if you want to know more there is a video called introduction to Honkai (if i remember the title correctly) which give a tiny detail about the past before the game's story starts which you could find at their yt page, they also have some honkai Chronicles for some of the important characters in the game though it contains spoilers since it is a summary of their life throughout the game until the vids were posted.
Fourth, there's a relation between the three game cause they are all in the imaginary tree, if i remember there's a good video about that topic at homu labs yt page (again this contains spoilers cause this one will almost have/ have a lot that basically talks about the whole story of the game)
Lastly there's already a character in HI3 (originally from HI3) and that is Welt which managed to come to HSR, there's also a video of him at Homu lab's yt page but again it contains some spoilers so if you don't like getting spoiled then it's best to not watch it along with character chronicles and the ones at Humo labs.
There's also three concerts that you can watch at their HI3 yt page it contains spoilers as well it's tiny so you might not even remember it if you ever try to play the game.

The anime shorts of HI3 is much more emotional and better than HSR or Genshin. I played HI3 out of my boredom after 2 years of playing Genshin. I continued to play HI3 and never looked back.
Biggest difference of HI3 is that it is an action Visual Novel with tons and tons of emotional stories than both Genshin and HSR.
