Your Frigidaire fridge has stopped cooling and is beeping
If your Frigidaire fridge stops cooling and the temperature rises to 55 degrees Fahrenheit or more, your fridge beeps to warn you that action is required to fix the underlying problem.
Here’s what to do:
- Make sure the fridge door is closed properly.
- Check the door gasket/seal to ensure nothing is stuck in it. If the seal is dirty, clean it with soapy water. If the seal is cracked or has come off, it will need to be repaired or replaced.
- If those two simple fixes don’t work, you probably have a defective circuit board so you’ll need to get a technician to come and repair it.
Your Frigidaire fridge beeps after a power outage
If a power outage has occurred and your fridge starts to beep, you’ll need to reset it.
Here’s what to do:
- Press the mute alarm, alarm reset, or the set button on your Frigidaire fridge to stop the beeping.
- If that doesn’t reset the alarm and stop it from beeping, you’ll need to unplug your fridge for a couple of minutes, then plug it back in. This should reset the alarm system.
- If the alarm continues to beep, unplug the fridge again and pull it out from the wall to clean the condenser coils. If they’re covered in frost, leave your fridge unplugged until they defrost before cleaning them. Then, plug your fridge back in, This should reset the alarm system.
- If those three actions don’t work, you’ll need to get a technician to come and diagnose the cause of the beeping.
Your Frigidaire fridge is displaying an H error code and beeping
If your Frigidaire fridge is beeping while simultaneously displaying an “H” error code, your fridge or the freezer unit is not cold enough (at or below 55 degrees Fahrenheit for the fridge, and at or below 26 degrees Fahrenheit for your freezer).
Here’s what to do:
- Start by pressing the alarm mute button to turn it off.
- Next, make sure the fridge door is closed properly.
- Check the door gasket/seal to ensure nothing is stuck in it. If dirty, clean it with soapy water. If the seal is cracked or has come off, it will need to be repaired or replaced.
- Unplug your fridge and pull it out from the wall to clean the condenser coils. If they’re covered in frost, leave your fridge unplugged until they defrost. Then, plug your fridge back in. This should reset the alarm system.
- If those three simple fixes don’t lower the fridge temperature sufficiently to stop the alarm, you’ll need to get a technician to come and inspect your fridge.
Your Frigidaire fridge beeps five times
If your Frigidaire fridge door is open your fridge might beep five times to let you know you need to shut the door.
If your door is closed and you still hear five beeps, here’s what to do:
- Check the door gasket/seal to ensure nothing is stuck in it. If dirty, clean it with soapy water. If the seal is cracked or has come off it will need to be repaired or replaced.
- Next, check the door switch inside your fridge to ensure it isn’t stuck. Some modern Frigidaire fridges have a magnetic strip instead of a door switch. If your model has one of these, make sure nothing is obstructing it.
- If those actions don’t stop the beeping, unplug your fridge off for a couple of minutes, then plug it back in. This should reset the alarm system.
- If the beeping continues to occur after a reset, you’ll need to get a technician to come and inspect your fridge.
Your Frigidaire fridge is beeping continuously
If the beeping goes on continuously, this indicates a problem that needs to be repaired before the beeping will stop.
Here are the most common causes of a continuously beeping Frigidaire fridge:
- The temperature is too high. When the internal temperature in the fridge goes above 55 degrees Fahrenheit, the fridge might beep until the temperature drops down again. Press the alarm mute button, then make sure the door is properly closed, the door seal is not defective, and the condenser coils are clean. If those actions don’t work, reset your fridge by unplugging it and plugging it back in.
- The door is open.Your fridge might beep continuously if the door isn’t closed properly. If the door is closed but you still hear beeping, check if you have a dirty or defective door gasket/seal. Press the alarm mute button, then check the door gasket/seal. If it’s dirty, clean it and if it’s broken, replace it.
- Faulty door switch. When the door switch is faulty, your fridge will think the door is open even when it’s closed. Press the alarm mute button, then check if the door switch is stuck. If a stuck door switch isn’t the problem, the door switch will need to be checked with a multimeter and if faulty, replaced.
- The power might have turned off.If you have an unexpected power outage or if you unplug your fridge, it might start beeping. The easiest way to solve this problem is to reset the alarm by pressing the reset button. If that doesn’t work, try a hard reset by unplugging your fridge and plugging it back in.
- Ice build-up.If you have an ice build-up in your freezer, this can cause a beeping alarm to go off. In this case, defrost your freezer and reset the alarm. If that doesn’t work, do a hard reset by unplugging your fridge and plugging it back in.
