Look at the front of the appliance. Some keypads actually have a “Volume” or “Sound” button that you can push to turn the sound all the way down to nothing. Check your manual. Few people like to read directions, but referring to your owner's manual could save you a ton of time when it comes to silencing your microwave.

Check for a 'Sound' or 'Mute' button on your microwave control panel. Look closely! If not clearly listed, it may be a secondary button function (written in a slightly different text colour). Try holding down on the button if this is the case.

If your microwave is making an unusual or loud humming noise, you may have a problem with the magnetron. This component is part of the high voltage circuit and provides the microwaves that generate the heat. If the magnetron is defective, it may cause a loud humming or buzzing noise.

The beeper volume can be adjusted to Low, Normal, Loud, and Mute. To change the beeper setting, simply push the Options button and turn the dial to Beeper. With Beeper in the display, push in on the dial and turn to find the desired setting. Push in on the dial to save your selection.
